Teaching Pronunciation Workout: Raising Awareness on the sounds of English

Your classmate Joaquín told me about this very interesting video that he had seen on Youtube and I saw very recently. Even though English pronunciation can be quite tricky for Spanish students, as many sounds do not have an equivalent in the Spanish language, in this video we can see how pronunciation is a mental activity, but is also a physical one.

It is true that we can repeat and produce new sounds much more easily when we are children, and that capacity decreases as we get older, but when we realize we can rely on the same muscles and organs of our mouth and throat to utter those sounds (as our muscles and organs are the same as those of the native speakers), that awareness can be really helpful.

The video runs for an hour, but if you have the time, try to watch it "actively", that is, pausing, understanding and taking notes if necessary. It can be very enlightning.
