Whether we are speaking or writing in English, the ideas that we express and the information we include cannot be disjointed and disorganized; if we do so, the message we want to get across is quite likely to not be understood at all... Our interlocutor could easily pull this face and we should not take offence:
Enter our beloved linkers, connectors, discourse markers, conjunctions and whatnot: these help organize the information in our speech and texts and make them coherent and cohesive; what happens before or after what, conveying meanings of addition, contrast, cause and effect, giving examples, addressing different aspects within a topic, summarizing, etc.
